Sofia's school

On Friday we went to Sofia's school for orientation. Is is so weird to think my baby is going to go to school. We got to the school and first went to the line to buy Sofia's uniform. Yes, she will have a uniform. Unfortunately they were all out of skirts her size but we did get her a jumper, pants, polo shirts, sweatshirt and fleece. We then went in to watch the presentation for the early years department. Sofia was a little leary and didn't leave our side even to play with toys. She wasn't sure what to make of things. We let her stay with us and figured she would loosen up a little as time went by. She saw some of her friends and that made her happy. After the presentation we went to see Sofia's classroom. This did the trick. She loved it there. She didn't want to leave when it was time to go. She also liked seeing the little kids potty as well as the low sinks so she could wash her hands at her own level. Having the orientation was perfect becuase it has really gotten Sofia excited for school. On Monday the two teachers from her class will come out to our apartment for a home visit so Sofia will get to see them once more time before she starts school on Wednesday.

WOW! I think it's great that the teachers visit the home of their students. A personal touch to schooling. What will Sofia's days/hours of school be like for pre-school in Prague? Jaime

She will be going 5 mornings a week. After the first semester she can opt to go 5 full days but we will see how she is doing with the half days.
