Immunizations
I brought Ali to the doctor yesterday for her to have her DTaP immunization. I really like our pediatrician here. She is very friendly and great with the kids. I was surprised when she told me they would be giving Ali the shot in the leg since after age 1 all the shots are given in the arm in the US. I figured that it probably didn't really matter though so I didn't say anything. Next time I will request that she use the arm because the shot really hurt Ali and swelled up her thigh. It is the first time she has had any kind of reaction to a shot. The only thing that I can think of that is different is where the shot was given unless the Dtap shot has a different formula here than in the US. In the US she received Pediarix which is the combined vaccine where as here she only received the DTaP so maybe that was the difference too. In any event I will ask for shots in the arm now rather than the leg.
